I just installed Ubuntu 14.04 on a new Dell laptop. I chose to encrypt everything. I was getting a message at startup that the swap was not present or not being detected (oddly, that message no longer appears). The Ubuntu installer didn't create a SWAP space at all. There is nothing. Further, this new computer is running slowly (even after adding more RAM). I'm not sure if that is related or not. Is there a safe--and relatively easy--way to add SWAP space? It looks like Gparted won't handle a resize of the existing encrypted space. (Am I right?) Most of the related issues I have found online have to do with people for whom Ubuntu did create SWAP space, but there was a problem with it. For me, no SWAP space was created at all.

Any help is much appreciated.
