Question Assurances Systems76 hardware is not compromised.

I've been looking at purchasing a Systems76 laptop for quite some time. I would like to hear at least one employee's assurances that the NSA does not routinely tamper with the product during its manufacture, or during its shipment.

What assurances can you give the hardware is not compromised?

Possibly better to ask System 76 directly.

"No NSA employees were harmed during the production of this laptop."

I'm pretty sure that the NSA doesn't tamper with this stuff. If you're suspicious, you could carefully take it apart (it's really easy to), and check for listening devices. (And I didn't see any when I took my laptop apart). If you're worried about software-wise, you could reinstall Ubuntu upon getting the laptop.

Besides, if the NSA wants to spy on you, they're gonna spy on you (I doubt that even stuff like Tor can completely stop them; It only slow them down). In fact, just by visiting websites about Linux will get them tracking you: http://www.linuxjournal.com/content/...a-surveillance
