Im using an external gaming mouse right now as a derivative. But as you can see, No Synaptics driver?
You could install pastebinit and upload a couple files that might help

and just copy/paste the URL's from the last two commands in your next post. I had a similar event happen installing a different linux on a Toshiba Satellite so I used a mouse for a while and before I could figure out what went wrong, the touchpad was working again
