Fixing Dependencies OS won't boot in LiveUSB now

The OS won't boot. I was working on fixing dependencies at:

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2235906

when the instructions asked me Y/n/q/c and I said: "Y". Now, after all those uninstall and re-installs, and a re-boot, the OS wouldn't work, even in Recovery Mode. So, I'm here, now, in LiveUSB looking for help.

Do you want to fix it for the learning value?
A simple reinstall would probably be faster.

If someone could tell me how to run "Backup" while in LiveUSB mode that would be great. Is it possible to have "Backup" perform it's imcremental backup in this mode? But any would do.
