Angry Headphones not working on Windows 7 after installing Ubuntu.

    Howdy!

I recently purchased this laptop, its a Toshiba Satellite, a couple of days ago i decided to add ubuntu with a dual boot config and now my headphones stopped working on windows...

I already tried installing the latest sound drivers.

Is there anything i can do? I really need my headphones!

    Thanks for the help.

Edit: I tried something i saw in another thread, i turned the computer off and on again (IT crowd ref? ) and its working now, but it didn't work after a reboot... I wonder if its going to keep working or every time i reboot my computer i will lose my headphones?

Windows and Ubuntu are each totally separate operating systems and should be on totally separate partitions. Just installing Ubuntu is not going to have that kind of effect on windows.

it could have, if sound card is somehow occupied (under voltage or how is it called). i have to sometimes turn off computer completelly and plug it out to regain sound on ubuntu. when i turn off the power it takes about 15 seconds and then i hear a pop in speakers like when they are unplugged. this signals that power is out from the card and upon booting the system propperly recognises it and acts as if nothing happened.

i've had this happen on two PC already.

i saw this thing hapening on old Windows as well as in DOS when i rebooted to DOS or soft reboot in dos (CRTL+ALT+DEL) the sound would still be as if device was ocupied by something else despite the "soft reboot." hard reboot solved the issue.

so in short you are right it shouldn't influence, but it seems it does.

just as it should have dummy output in sound while at the same time seeing and recognising the cards. but it does.
Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.
Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?
