14.04 Install Graphics Issue with AMD GPU

Hi,

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 14.04 on a machine with an AMD GPU. The problem is, after I boot up to the Ubuntu Desktop I can't see the windows due to graphical issues. Here is a screenshot with the problem: http://i.imgur.com/jFlDjEm.jpg

I tried adding "acpi=off" and "noacpi" to the boot options, as in http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2227916 , but the problem remains.

The machine has an CPU i7 4770k (with integrated GPU) and an AMD RadeonHD 7990 GPU. It works fine on Windows 8.1 and Gentoo with both OpenGL and OpenCL applications.

Anyone faced this problem before? Any clue what I should do next to try debugging it?

Is that with the live session or after Ubuntu has been installed?

You might get better success with the nomodeset option. If the live session worked well then install Ubuntu without ticking Install third party software. Then you get will the same open source video driver that was used in the live session and not the proprietary video driver. You have hybrid graphics and that can = difficulty. Please read this

Oh I'm sorry, forgot to make it clear. The problem happens when I try to boot Ubuntu from the USB stick with the option "Try Ubuntu without Installing".
