Putting the reins on crontab ...

I have crontab open up a bunch of urls for me - typically web sites but also files - which is good. However the page brought up becomes the active page. Which is bad.

Time after time I am blithely typing away and look up only to find that I have either typed nothing (cos I am now in a web page) or useless stuff into a file.

So! Can I, how can I, continue to have crontab do its work ... but open the page in the background?

    Thanks for any assistance.

AFAIK that would depend how you're opening the URLs and how your browser decides to load them - for example When a pop-up is opened in a new tab, do NOT switch to it immediately for Firefox

    You'd think ...

Curiously my firefox is bas ackwards.

My choice is "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately". This has NEVER been ticked.
