switching user or logout does not work

    14.04 LTS 32bit

I have to users. the system boots with the default one - then I would like to switch to the other one I got a black screen without any dialog or panel. So I need to reboot the system. I can switch between terminal mode and X mode.
Any suggestions what I am doing wrong, or how should I be more specific.

    Thanks in advance!

you mean after creating a 3rd user - and then try to switch?

Yes, after creating a fresh user. Log into that user and see if the feature is working.
