    World's first Ubuntu phone

The first Ubuntu phone has been shown at the Mobile Asia Expo 2014 by Meizu, the first company that decided to adopt the new operating system from Canonical.

Of course not. Do you want to see Free and Open Source Software running on commercial viable retail products or not? The Ubuntu developers do. And that is why they do not put unrealistic conditions on supplying Ubuntu to OEMs for pre-installation on their devices. Look what happens to projects that are based on the insistence that open source software must run on open source hardware.

Canonical is a software company. It does not control the hardware. And because Ubuntu is not a cult we have the freedom to choose to buy or not to buy. I expect from these and other future products the same high standards for quality and reliability that I would expect from any product that I may buy.

    Regards.

Prices will be set by retailers. And they have to get the price point right. Cheap hardware at a premium price will not sell. Premium hardware at too low a price will not be profitable. Cheap hardware and cheap price will not sell. People want quality products, software and services plus good design. The standards set by existing products are high.
