    HP Pavilion g6-2231tx Notebook Overheating & Battery Performance

    I formatted my HP Pavilion g6-2231tx Notebook, removed windows 8 and installed ubuntu LTS 12.04 on it.

    With windows 8 the machine never overheats and remains cool. Also, battery backup is awesome.

    But the day I installed Ubuntu LTS on it, it started overheating. And battery backup rarely exceeds more than an hour (In fact sometimes lesser than that).

    I experimented with TLP also but nothing helps.

    Please provide help if there is any solution from the Linux community or HP itself.

    I have a near identical laptop (g6 2240).

    On 12.04, I had to use the binary driver.
    On 14.04, I just selected Additional Drivers/AMD...Catalyst works, no overheating, excellent graphics performance.

    Well you are right MartyBuntu thats the easiest way to do that..

    @vijay_pant
    Also while selecting binary driver select the driver that says (Proprietary, Tested)
    So that you dont face any problems..
