    Advanced mathematics forums/etc online?

I'm a math PhD student doing research in inverse problems and I have various tricky analysis problems I've been working on. I'm wondering if there is any kind of online community where one could ask a difficult postgraduate mathematics question and reasonably expect an answer (the idea isn't "make other people do my research", but rather "find out if/where statement X has already been proved")? I'm currently having problems with fractional Sobolev spaces and fractional derivatives and various issues about what I can and can't do with distributions to reduce the smoothness requirements of my results.

Would not your PhD director or other people in the labs around know ?

Certainly I would ask my advisor first, but considering the incredible number of useful facts in functional analysis, an individual person isn't going to know all of them. In principle, if such an online community existed it would serve a useful purpose (basically, everyone spending less time trolling through books and papers looking for a specific result that someone else already knows about).

Thanks! This looks like the kind of site I was looking for.
