Change default location of desktop icons?

Is there a way in Xubuntu 14.04 to change the default location of the desktop icons? For example, when I plug in a thumb drive or download a file, their icons show up on the screen in the upper left hand corner. Any way to default this to appear on the opposite side of the monitor?

Unfortunately, no. There is an old bug report from 2007 that doesn't seem to have been completed. Also possibly related is the following bug report: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9534.
