    Wireless disconnects

    Hello,

    I have 14.04 and the wireless adapter keeps losing connection. The wifi adapter is Netgear WN111v2. It loses connection few times every 10 minutes while plugged into USB slots. Sometimes it will not reconnect and I have to reboot computer. How to fix?

    I copy and pasted the lines into a terminal. The text file is empty.

    You are using a power saving package "TLP". Please read my comments on it that I just posted here : http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=13042596 and try a Live DVD/USB as suggested to see if it performs better without TLP.

    Additionally, you may try a driver parameter -
    Code:
    sudo modprobe -rv carl9170
    sudo modprobe -v carl9170 nohwcrypt=Y
    The first command will remove the driver thus disabling the adapter. The second one will reload it with the 'nohwcrypt=Y' parameter. It will be a temporary change that would be lost on next boot. If it helps, we can make it permanent.

    Will doing the actions in the other thread you mentioned disable powersave on wireless? I need my wireless on at all time because I am using a dongle and work from the Internet.

    I hope it does, not sure if it really will.

    But if you are confusing 'powersave' with enabling/disabling of wireless adapter, then let me clarify that these are different things. Power Management is a feature that tries to save power on a device (wireless adapter here) when it *thinks* the device is idle, it does not really turn it off completely. Disabling this feature means there will be no attempts to save power, and the device will work on full power all the time.
