    bad gmail connection

While g-mail was being installed on my desktop there was an error. If I click on the g-mail icon the computer freezes. How can I get the corrupted version off my desktop so I can try again?

    Re: bad gmail connection

I have no idea what a package is but I am pretty sure you don't mean the slang definition. l started to log into gmail from firefox when ubu asked me if I would like it to install gmail on my desktop. I said "yes, by all means." An error occured during the install. Now when I click on the Gmail icon the computer freezes. My question is how do I get the corrupted file off my desktop so I can try again?

A package gets installed when you choose to install an application on Ubuntu (and Linux in general).
A web browser is not the way packages get installed. Are you sure this is not a shortcut or some Windows application ?
Can you take a screenshot ?

Alternatively, open a terminal and run :
    Code:
    ls -la ~/Desktop
And paste the output here in a reply. Just highlight the output in the terminal and middle click here to paste.

    Re: bad gmail connection

gmail has advertised a new stand-alone gmail application/package that you can install on your system. Going forward, new gmail features will only be available through this application. I do not know if there is a linux version. I cannot find it. So if the OP can provide a link to what he downloaded, we can provide some suggestions.
