    multiple instances of VLC

on Ubuntu 12.04, and every other distro, i am able to pull up unlimited number of windows with VLC. Since installing ubuntu 14.04, i am no longer able to pull up more than one window of VLC. If i open a second file or files, it get concatenated to the current instance of VLC already open.

Im assuming this is somethign 14.04 might of changed? Not sure. I find this to be odd and annoying. How can i get the old method back?

There is a setting in vlc : Tools > Preferences > Interface > Playlists and Instances. Maybe the box "allow only one instance" is checked.
