    wireless internet sharing

I notice that Windows 8.1 now has better networking than before, it now can offer to use an existing connection and share it with a USB Wi-Fi adapter and it becomes an access point

Can Linux server do tricks like this? Windows is rather expensive for a network appliance.

There are a few ways of doing it using IPtables and so on

I have not used it in a while and when I did , I found ICS on windows a lot easier if Im honest

Open the network settings. There is a setting that you can click to share the internet connection.

Sorry, for servers, I think it can be done also, Firewall iptables and so on, like jonobr pointed out.

I think the bigger issue is
    it becomes an access point

    Re: wireless internet sharing

You can do internet connection sharing very easily through the Graphical Interface. All you have to do is go to network connections. Then click add connection. Then choose which device you want to share your internet to. Then change the ipv4 settings to share with other computer. And you're done. Here is a youtube video that someone made to show you exactly that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK-JHfJqmkY Hope this helps someone. I was looking for hours and finally found this.
