    Netgear N-300 / WNA3100 usb adapter

I Have a dell optiplex 755 and it has XP im trying to upgrade to Ubuntu 14.04 32 bit. I have been using a distro and have not completely installed because I can not get the Wifi to work what so ever and this is a deal breaker even though I like everything else. I am using a netgear router/modem and a netgear usb adapter to pick up wifi. I am very new to linux all together and I am very slow with it currently but I have spent hours on this issue and nothing has helped, please help me.

Re: WIRELESS HELP PLEASE...About to Give Up on UNBUNTU....

    Hello!

Do you know the model of the dongle and the chipset used in it?

By the way... Rather than getting extra help by saying you are about to give up on Ubuntu, you have probably reduced the number of people who might otherwise have stopped by to help. It gets old after a while.

Also, all caps is considered shouting. People don't like to be shouted at.

    Agree.
Title changed. Might need to be changed again when more hardware details are posted.

I don't think you need more. With this information it should be possible to dig up some relevant threads dealing with the same problem.

    Re: Netgear usb adapter

Ive spent around a week on this issue already and I havent been able to resolve it. I am very Linux illiterate unfortunately and I have tried many things, and to add to my frustration I just installed ubuntu to my little brothers laptop and it works flawless.
