Help with downloading torrents

Hey there, I have been expiriancing a bit of a problem when I try to use transmission to download torrents. maybe a minute or so after starting the torrent, my computer crashes and will stick on a screen with a black background and a load of text. Its at that point I have to remove the power supply from my laptop and restart the system.

I am currently running ubuntu 14 on a samsung N130 which is only a small notebook, I don't normally have a problem just serfing the internet, and I can use most programmes just fine. I can even download big files through firefox, but I just can't seem to remove the problem with transmission. I have tried other torrent downloaders such as qbittorrent but it does the same thing.

Any help you can offer would be greatly apretiated,

Can you show us a picture of that "black background and a load of text"?
Or tell us what the text says?

For some reason, it has started working correctly. I was waiting to take a picture with my phone and it just wouldn't do it. Thank you for the responce though, I will post here if it actually decides to stop working again so we can try and solve the issue.
