Re: [Lubuntu] Anyone interested in LXQT (LXDE-QT)?

5 updates today, 3 of them were for pcmanfm-qt.

So I fired pcmanfm-qt up and seems to be working fine.

I wanted to use gksudo this morning and installed 'gksu'

When using the gksudo command to open 'synaptic pm' I get
    (gksudo:11761): GConf-CRITICAL **: gconf_value_free: assertion 'value != NULL' failed
But it will still open and is usable.

Gksudo works with pcman-qt (no gconf-critical).

There are old bug reports on this (gksu). Maybe it is nothing to be concerned about.

Hi, I wonder if you could help me here, I installed LXQt on Ubuntu 14.04 but missing default window manager

    intalled LXQt by following commands...

    sudo apt-get install software-properties-common
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lubuntu-dev/lubuntu-daily
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gilir/q-project
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade
    sudo apt-get install lxqt-metapackage
    sudo apt-get install lxqt-panel

reboot and click small circle to chose LXQt login option

    message displayed:
please select your default window manager
    other... chose your favourite one.
you will be able to change this at any time through
Preferences > Session settings > Basic Settings

Unable to select window manager, is system looking for openbox or PCManFM-Qt ? not sure what to do here.

I am completely new to linux so if someone could explain how to fix this I would be grateful. is there an easy command line I can use in the terminal?

    any help would be appreciated

thanks sudodus for your prompt reply, I also got a reply from http://forum.lxde.org where Rex suggested install the default Window Manager for Lubuntu (which is Openbox) by following command line....

    sudo apt-get install openbox obconf

after restart I was able to select LxQt from the login screen.

    cheers, Hugh

Interesting thread here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=181207 because I'm seeing
    Code:
Theme: Cannot open file for reading: "/home/vasa1/.local/share/lxqt/themes/a-mego/lxqt-session.qss"
and that's related to what they're going on about. But in my case, everything seems to be working just fine (other than that line popping up in ~/.xsession-errors).

Re: [Lubuntu] Anyone interested in LXQT (LXDE-QT)?

    Learned something new!

In regular Lubuntu, I made a few custom notifications. As an example I have a script that is just:
    Code:
    #!/usr/bin/env bash
          notify-send "$(date)"
and when I run it, I get the time and date as an onscreen notification.

The thing is that with LXQt, in addition to the time and date I got a line with "notify-send". To avoid that I must use notify-send --app-name"" "$(date)". That prevents "notify-send" appearing as a separate line.

    Thanks to jleclanche here: https://github.com/lxde/lxde-qt/issu...mment-43206514

Now I'm off to fix the rest of my custom notifications.

    LXQT is released

The Razor-qt dev team has been working with the LXDE team, and the fruits of their labor can be found here:

    http://lxqt.org/

I have installed LXQT on two machines, and it works very well, with a slightly smaller footprint than LXDE.

Note: If you have razor-qt installed, remove it before installing LXQT, which is a big improvemt over razor-qt.

I had razor-qt installed, and had to remove it befor LXQT would start. Smooth sailing since then.
