what parts of ubuntu do canonical make ?

i was thinking about what parts of ubuntu canonical make. because i know they don't solely make the kernel, nor tools like dd, or some feature software. but they do solely make the desktop environments, and - what else ?

The only desktop environment they make is Unity, all the others are taken from independent projects.

And even that stretches it a little, as unity is basically a shell.
