    Thanks Blm-ubunet.
I don't know what the initial "error" is about. But I find it a bit strange that the policy in case of initial errors lets USB faal back to uhci_hcd when the faster ehic_hcd seems to work. I read somwhere about USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 companion setting under /sys/bus/usb/devices and that it should be possible to turn of this falling back to uhci_hcd on errors. I can't find any docomentation though. Could you point me in the right direction?

I have only come across using /sys/bus/usb/devices to control USB power to external tuners etc..

    This returns a good summary.
    Code:
    usb-devices
    Sorry.

    Thank you for your reply.
Yes the usb-devices command gives a lot of information.

I have read about companion usb 1.1 devices at https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=172005
I will try to turn off the companion function by issuing:
    Code:
    echo -x > /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/../companion
where x is the usb 1.1 fall back port

I still wonder where to find documentation on how to revert to the behavior of the old versions of the kernel (3.2.x) where usb didn't fall back to uhci-hcd on ehci_hcd errors
