Sound Menu on Panel - What is it?

    Lubuntu 14.04:

Right click on panel > Add/Remove Panel Items

If I select Indicator applets, then the edit button, I get a small dialog offering 1) Indicator Applications and 2) Sound Menu.

Indicator Applications is checked, Sound Menu is not checked. What is Sound Menu? I checked it, expecting to get some new icon and dialog, perhaps panel accessible controls for Audacious. Nothing appears, even with Audacious running, even after logging in again.

Good question. I just checked mine with the same results. At first I thought it enabled access to the Alsa Mixer volume control, but I had that before.

Re: Sound Menu on Panel - What is it?

I still had an install of Lubuntu 12.10 and checking on that, found the same thing regarding Sound Menu - unchecked, and didn't work. So I suppose this is nothing to get excited about now. But still don't know what that item is intended for - some upcoming feature in Lubuntu's future, perhaps?
