I have done a ton of searching and found nobody with my exact problem. Everybody has "dummy sound card" listed, but I don't have any devices listed. See the attached screenshot or this link:.Additionally, I have no sound/volume indicator on the system tray, even though when I come to the login screen, there is a working volume indicator. The problem seems to have started when I began using HDMI to connect my laptop (Samsung ATIV Book with Intel CORE i3) to the TV. It worked perfectly at first, even sending sound to the TV speakers.I've since been getting by with the ol' trick of force-restarting ALSA in the terminal, but it's tedious and not really a fix. Additionally, when I do this trick, the HDMI no longer sends sound to the TV.(Sorry for the poor formatting, I can't figure out how to make paragraph breaks without HTML code)
