14.04 - Wi-Fi connects to router but can't navigate

I just installed kubuntu 14.04. Wi-fi scans correctly the networks, connects correctly via WPA to the wifi network, but can't ping neither 8.8.8.8 nor the router address (192.168.1.254).
My wifi card is:

On realtek.com only a very old driver (up to kernel 3.2) can be downloaded. Anyway I tried to install it but there was an error in the installation script (a class hasn't a field). Therefore I'm using the built-in driver.

@ pinolo,

A few suggestions for you -

1) Please change the encryption type in the router to pure WPA2-PSK with AES (CCMP). Currently it is using WPA/WPA2 mixed mode.

2) Along with the above change, also change the channel to 1 or 11. They usually offer much better signal quality than the channels in-between. Currently it is using channel 4. Reboot the router after saving any changes.

3) Whether they help or not, keep the router settings as suggested above. If required, also try some driver parameters as suggested in this post : http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=12815912 (replace "rtl8192ce" with "rtl8192se" in the commands since you are using rtl8192se.)

The driver parameters suggested in point 3 above are temporary (as also mentioned in the linked post). If they seem to help, we can make them permanent.

Not yet, Im fairly confident it's the bcmwl driver that's loaded and doesn't play nicely with 3.13 kernel, time will tell.
