Ubuntu installation wont recognize pre-installed windows 8

Well, i hate windows 8. So i have been trying out Ubuntu 13.10 on my system and want to fully install it, but i want to dual boot. When i get to the screen that lets you choose it says it didnt detect any other operating systems but i clearly have WIN8. I dont know how to fix this, im very new to changing OS's and stuff so any help on how to get it to dual boot would be awesome. Thanks

I shouldn't worry too much about that.
    But please check this

Personally I prefer to do clean installations so I can get all the partitioning nice and orderly. But most people are stuck with OEM windows installs and no install DVD for windows

That doesnt help. I honestly dont know what your talking about. Dont know how to mess with partitions and dont know about any of these modes. Maybe installing ubuntu 12.04 would help?

Well if you hate Windows 8 then why dual boot? Dual booting makes life complicated because of the secure boot, uefi fisaco. With 8 G of ram you can easily install Windows in Virtualbox if you don't need Windows for games.
