Dell Inspiron n4050, disk drive

I just got a dell inspiron n4050 with windows 7 starter (worst OS ever). I setup a dual boot with ubuntu and everything works fine exept that my disk drive doesn't seem to work. it recognizes that there is a disk, and knows its name but can't play anything. Please help. Thanks in advance. Sorry if this is a stupid question

Now, you mentioned that you can't play anything from your disk drive. Is this a multimedia CD like music or movies? If so you should take a look at the following wiki entry.
