I used on-line Turbo-Tax. You just ignore the warning that it might not be compatible.

There may be some that install and run under Wine, but I have not tried running any under Wine.

I keep a dual boot with Windows around just for this very purpose. The annual updates are rather tiresome however.

    http://www.taxact.com/

They are free, or $12.95 if you have less than simple forms and want them to keep info to make following year easier. State is extra, but many states have their own free e-file.

I usually do them on downloaded PDF forms first, then on taxact, and if everything agrees I am good to go. If they do not agree I figure out where "I" made a mistake.

I've tried installing HRBlock tax software under Wine -- but it doesn't run.

But they also have an online application. I've gone through the first few screens in Xubuntu using Firefox and it seems to work so you might want to give that a try.
