Color is goofy when I play old videos

I have a few shorts vids from when I was running Win XP, just stuff I downloaded from the 'net. When I play them there is a yellow tint to the picture. Happens when I use Movie Player or VLC. It's only a problem for stuff I acquired before switching to Ubuntu 12.04. Everything else runs fine. Youtube or what have you, there's no problem.

I don't know a lot yet, only been running Ubuntu for about 6 weeks. I can do simple stuff on the CL and am learning more about that all the time. Not that big of a deal just thought I should look into it and see if I can learn how to fix it. Any help would be very much appreciated.

So, anybody else have this problem?

    Thanks!

Yes, I had the same problem recently with the ugly yellow tint on movies. What helped me was to go to preferences on Gnome MPlayer and change the video output setting. You have several choices, the first one worked for me.
This was on Linux Mint 13 which is pretty much the same as Ubuntu 12.04
    Hope that helps.
