    Thumbs up Free Linux Course

There is now an on-line Beginners Linux course being offered by edX.

You may take this course FREE of charge unless you want/need the course certificate upon completion with a 75% or higher grade.

The course will involve watching videos, suggested reading materials and on-line discussion groups.

Note: edX calls taking a course free, "Auditing". So if you don't need the certificate and want to take it FREE select AUDIT if/when asked.
Note: you will have to register to take this course.

Starting date is August 1, 2014

These posts do not really belong in "The Cafe" but a moderator put them here for some reason. If anything they should have been moved to "Tutorials".

Learning Linux - EdX course starting on August 1st

I have been using Ubuntu since around 2008 and still consider myself a n00b when it comes to doing anything on the terminal.

There is a free course given by the Linux Foundation through EdX that others might be interested in: https://www.edx.org/course/linuxfoun...roduction-1621

I have taken Coursera & EdX courses before and they are amazing for their content, the teachers and the effort and money that has been spent to deliver them.

Re: Learning Linux - EdX course starting on August 1st

I signed up too. Presently taking a course in Cryptography from Coursera but I have to admit it is a bit beyond me. I have been auditing courses from Coursera and EDex as there is no charge this way and if I can't reach full comprehension of a subject it has cost me nil (except time)but I may still gain new insights

By the way you can also pay for the Linux course (or any other EdEx or Cousera course) and if you pass you get certification from that university for the course
