    cpu stall while upgrading to a newer version

    my cpu stall while updating to a newer version ubuntu 12.10 from 12.04 lts so not every package was install nor did it reach the clean stage or restart stage ...

    is there anyway i can get it to finish the process or am i screwed ?


    i have been having cpu stall for every version of ubuntu

    i read it may have something to do with a weak graphics card

    12.10 is EOL (end of life), no longer supported. Quirks due to missing or outdated packages are to be expected. Also the versions you should be using are 12.04 LTS or 13.10. LTS releases can be upgraded from one to another and usually without issues therefore you better wait a few weeks more and do it directly to 14.04 LTS.

    i dont think you understand my question correctly

    i was in process of upgrading to that version and my cpu froze so i have half of that version install if even that

    is there a command i can run in terminal so i can upgrade to 14.04 lts when it comes out ?

    my package manager isnt working due to the freezing while i was upgrading 12.10 version
