That video is 'general talk' about what we are doing.
I think you need more details, and you can get it via discussions here, or if this gives too slow feedback, maybe via chatting (I can use skype-chat or google-chat). I think it is better with a written chat, because many things need to be exact, which they are when written (instead of spoken).

Now it's some time I'm using Lubuntu 14.04 on this laptop: things are ok and I strongly suggest to follow the procedures described in this thread.
You will have a fast problems-free modern laptop, it's not difficult!
