    Recovery problem

I installed Ubuntu some time ago. I intended to install it alongside win8, but this was not an option, so I installed ubuntu instead of win8. For work reasons I need to reinstall win8, and I have recieved recovery disks from acer. The problem is that I get a promt telling me there is no space to install, so I guess I need to remove ubuntu before recovering win8. How do I remove ubuntu from my computer, leaving no OS remaining?

You should be able to boot from Ubuntu installation media, run GParted, and use that to remove all the partitions from the disk.

Once you do that, you should then be able to reboot from the Acer media and reinstall Win8.

    Good Luck
    Ubuntu 20.04, Mint 19.10; MS Win10 Pro.

I tried, but could not figure out gparted. It did not allow me to do anything
