Looking for a Monitor with built-in webcam

    Hi,

I'm looking at getting a monitor for Xubuntu that includes a built-on webcam. I know that certain web-cams do not work with Ubuntu so I want to know what I should be looking for.

I have looked as the Asus monitors. I am also not sure how the webcam connects to the computer - is it via a USB connection from the monitor to the computer?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Might I ask why you want a monitor with a built in webcam? I find this to be a bad idea for two different reasons:

    1. If your webcam, for some reason, needs to go to the warranty, you'll also lose your monitor.

    2. The webcam will, probably/possibly, eventually, become obsolete (much better quality ones will be available) while your monitor still functions perfectly.

    Thanks for the reply.

The monitor with a built-in webcam is for a youth centre where one of the computers will be used for Skype training and other things. Rather than have a separate webcam that can be easily removed I have been asked to look into these type of monitors
