    Second Monitor woes

I have a HP Pavilion g6 Notebook that I was given, but the screen is broken, it had win 8 on and I could use it with external monitor... So I decide to install Ubuntu 12.04 desktop on it using the external monitor.

The install went fine using the external monitor, and I could see everything fine, after it asks me to restart no display at all..

I have tried to get into bios but that would I assume only show on the laptop screen, also tried to connect with putty but wont let me in.

System Model: HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC
    BIOS: InsydeH2O Version CCB.03.61.31F.46
Processor: AMD E2-3000M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics (2 CPUs), ~1.8GHz
    Memory: 4096MB RAM
    harddrive 500gb

Card name: AMD Radeon(TM) HD 6380G
    Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
Chip type: ATI display adapter (0x9643)
    DAC type: Internal DAC(400MHz)

All laptops have a vga output key, usually F4, so you'll need to press Fn+F4, have you tried that? You might get your desktop back on the external monitor, and even if it is at a low resolution, you might then be able to set it up properly in your display preferences.

kostkon, Thank you for your answer, Unfortunately it didnt work, but with your answer it was easier for me to find a solution, it seems that mine was the windows key and "p" (strange using that key with Linux)
