I would like to upgrade my squid boxes to the latest stable - 3.4.3 - anyone know how to do this?

Are you currently running Ubuntu 12.04 or are you running an older version of that as well? What version of Squid are you currently running?

    Hope that helps!

Have you ever tried compiling applications from source? Squid compiled pretty cleanly for me the last time I built it. It will install everything under /usr/local, e.g., /usr/local/sbin/squid, so it won't interfere with the version already installed.

Here's an introduction to compilation on Ubuntu: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompilingEasyHowTo
