Your wifi is currently soft blocked. Please check/try these -

    1) Make sure "Enable Wireless" has a tick mark beside it in the Network Manager's drop-down menu (the network icon in the upper right corner).

    2) If the above is okay, try this command in a termianl -
    Code:
    rfkill unblock all
    3) Try the hardware switch that toggles the wireless on/off. It may be a simple physical switch or a Fn+<some key> combination. Refer to your laptop's user manual if unsure.

If none of these help enabling your wifi, please follow the "Wireless Script" link in my signature, download and run the script as per instructions there, and post back the report it generates.

While posting the outputs, please use 'Code' tags. It preserves the output's formatting and makes the post cleaner, compact and more readable. To see a quick 'HowTo' with screenshots, please follow the "Using Code Tags" link in my signature.

    Re: Atheros AR928X

Please run the following commands in a terminal (copy-paste them to avoid typing errors) -
    Code:
    sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf
    echo "options ath9k nohwcrypt=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf
    echo "blacklist acer_wmi" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
Then reboot and see if your wifi is active or not. If not, make sure it is "Enabled" in Network Manager menu and also try the physical switch again. If still no luck, run the wireless script again and post back its fresh report (make sure to copy-paste it correctly, the last time was not complete and not in order).

And there also seems to be a wrong entry in one of your system files, although not problematic, lets get it sorted too. Please post back the outputs of -
    Code:
    ls /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist*
    cat /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf.save
    Varun
