    USB Audio Interface recommendation?

I'd like to buy a USB Audio Interface with 2 XLR inputs that works easily/out of the box with my Ubuntu Studio 12.4 LTS as well as my Windows 8.1. Any recommendations?

The Presonus Audio Box will do what you want quite nicely.

    Re: USB Audio Interface recommendation?

I'm using the Focusrite Scarlet 2i4 which gives two 'combi' XLR mic. sockets with optional phantom power, two line inputs switchable to instrument, two stereo outs from the computer and a flexible monitoring system (via a headphone socket which will also act as a line out for 3.5mm computer speaker jack plugs) that can be configured to monitor the signal to the computer for low latency monitoring or can be faded across to the computer out (Stereo 1 or Stereo 2 are selected by switch). Stereo 1 is available at a pair of phono sockets and a pair of balanced 6.1mm jack sockets to drive proper studio monitors.

As a bonus, there is a MIDI IN and MIDI Out.

All of the above features work via jack and ALSA 'out of the box'.
