You are asking about a Windows problem on a Ubuntu forum. Now, where did I put that pile of stones?

What format does the 512GB memory stick have? It may have a format that Windows 7 can read but Windows XP cannot.

    Regards.

It might be formatted with the exFAT file system. Windows XP can work with exFAT with a patch.

I'm seriously behind in my technical knowledge because I'd love a USB stick that held 512GB. My 1TB Seagate external drive is about the size of a pocket diary.

May I ask, where did you find this miraculous device?

They even do a 1TB version, in case you're feeling particularly flush.

Several years ago we had several users post about 512GB flash drives. Of course such a thing did not exist then, but they were real cheap for 512GB.

They were 4GB drives with modified partition table to show 512GB, but were usually corrupted as well.

    On an Ubuntu forum ...

    http://windowsforum.com/

    They will know

But as a side note, try reformatting the Flash drive. Might work.
