    Installing Gnome Shell?

Have not used Ubuntu in ages, I'm just wiped someone's laptop to reinstall win7 and I told them I would put a small Ubuntu partition on in case windows ever breaks so they can still get online, access their docs etc

I've already installed Ubuntu 14.04 daily but I would also like to add Gnome Shell for them so they can choose what they prefer.

    I saw this http://www.webupd8.org/2014/01/gnome...untu-1404.html

What's the current procedure to install gnome shell/desktop?

(Yes I know 14.04 is not stable but they are only gonna play with it and it will be updated to stable in april for them)

Any other post install goodies I should install for them?

Sorted, just installed ubuntu-gnome-desktop but it's not an ideal setup in conjunction with unity.

    Re: Installing Gnome Shell?

If we are using Ubuntu Trusty Tahr + Unity then we can install gnome-session-flashback. We then get two additional options; Gnome Flashback (with Compiz) and Gnome flashback (with Metacity). Which I think is more compatible with Ubuntu Unity than Gnome Shell Classic which is a Gnome 3 shell extension and so, in my opinion, more suited to Ubuntu Gnome.Regards.
It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.
