    root password

" By default, the Root account password is locked in Ubuntu. This means that you cannot login as Root directly or use the su command to become the Root user. "

I am wondering. Say a very good hacker or a good intelligence organisation wanted to - could they just walk in?
Albeit unlikely to be well compromised - is this a reason to go Debian raw?

Technically, there is no root password so you cannot switch to it, because it isn't there. A good hacker could use your password to access "sudo" though, but that doesn't make Debian any better because if they get access to your account that would be all they need.

I understand that, but until that point, it's not set. Read the second post, as I could not find the original post that I read a long time ago about this.
