    Ubuntu Scientists Team

    All,

Since the Ubuntu Community doesn't have a team for scientists of all sorts, I have gone ahead and created the team on LauchPad: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-scientists I believe a group would be useful because it could help scienists in FOSS to support each other. It's almost like the team, Ubuntu Women. Once we have a few memebers, I will set up the mailing-list and work on the blueprints for the team's tasks, as in working on wiki pages on the Ubuntu wiki and to set up an IRC Channel. If anyone has questions or comments, please do post here and I will try to get them answered.

    Thank you,
    belkinsa

    All,

The #ubuntu-scientists channel is now open on chat.freenode.net. You are welcome to come and say "hi" to me and others who might be in. I'm planning to work the team wiki pages in March.

    Thank you.

    Re: Ubuntu Scientists Team

Hi! Thanks for the invitation in this group! I am Andrea, I'm Italian and I am studing bioinformatics (master degree). I love science and information technology. I love ubuntu and open source. Have you in mind to develop a new IT project?..or the main goal is to convince scientists to use open source alternatives?

This is a nice concept! I studied biology (Masters in bioinformatics) as well, and might take it further if things work out. Shall join the Launchpad team. Thanks!

Should the scientists be in the developer forum:
