Get Ubuntu for phone?

Hi,

I'm new to the forum! I'm just wondering can my Vodafone 975 get ubuntu for phone. I basically just want it to be able to make calls and texts and run ubuntu!

Keep in mind that Ubuntu Touch, although at version 1.0, is still under heavy development and by installing it you become an experimental tester. The install instructions are here:

The Ubuntu Touch Developer Preview is intended to be used for development and evaluation purposes only. It is an experimental development snapshot that can potentially brick your device. It does not provide all of the features and services of a retail phone and cannot replace your current handset. This preview is the first release of a very new and unfinished version of Ubuntu and it will evolve quickly.

Ubuntu Touch has involved quickly. It is a little over a year ago that it was announced and here we are expecting some announcement of a Ubuntu phone being brought to market. I do not think that the progress that has been made should be taken as meaning we can install Ubuntu Touch on all the various mobile devices on the market.
