Epson printer (WF-2540) on HP Pavilion tx 2000 running 11.10

Hi folks --

This is probably one of those "duh" events for most of you, but I'm a light weight Ubuntu user. So have mercy.

I'm running 11.10 on an HP Pavilion tx 2000 wireless laptop and I can't figure out how to install my new Wi-Fi Epson WF-2540 all-in-one printer. I have initialized the printer and connected it to my HP laptop via Ethernet cable. Searching for a print utility that can make the printer known to 11.10 I have found "Printing - Localhost" via Dash home, and "Configure Printers" via the Ubuntu Software Center. Neither utility seems to have provisions for adding a new printer or deleting old ones. So I'm stuck.

11.10 is out of support. Before investing more time in the project I suggest a clean install of 13.10.

Perhaps it is still possible to upgrade(rather than a new install) to 12.04 which has long term support for several more years

It's a little old but still the same.

Still best to pick an OS that is supported.

If you have been struggling with the problem in 11.10 for three weeks then maybe the advice was helpful after all - if you had taken it.
