Locking an application to one workspace

I'm not sure if this is a xubuntu or thunderbird/icedove question...
In xfce, I use workspace 1 as my main workspace, where I keep browser, terminal, audio, and whatever else I'm focused on at the moment. I keep tbird on workspace2.

When I click on links in tbird, it pulls firefox to workspace2 if it's already open on workspace 1, and I end up getting confused as to what workspace I'm on. I'd like firefox to stay on workspace 1. If I could also get thunderbird to switch me to workspace1 when I click on a link, that would be a bonus.
