“Superphone” that can be a PC

Seems there are certain specs for the Ubuntu Superphone to also act as a PC:

    http://www.ubuntu.com/phone/operators-and-oems

    Quad-core A9 or Intel Atom
    Min 1GB
    Min 32GB eMMC + SD

Anyone know what phones have these specs? If there are none yet, any idea on what phones are going to be coming out that will have these specs?

Re: “Superphone” that can be a PC

There are phones already on the market with the right hardware specifications but there are no phones as yet on the market running the Ubuntu Touch phone/tablet platform. We recently heard news that Canonical had recently signed an agreement with an OEM for a Ubuntu phone to be marketed but when and what hardware are yet to be announced. We have not been informed which OEM it is.

The whole point of the Ubuntu super phone concept is that right now phone hardware is as powerful as standard desktop computers are. Or, in comparison with my desktop machine, more powerful. To bring this concept into the real world two things are needed. 1) a form Ubuntu that provides the required capabilities for both a phone, tablet and desktop. 2) Hardware makers bringing a product to market.

Ubuntu Touch for the phone is already where it needs to be. It is at version 1.0. Over the next six months it will be optimised for the tablet and that will bring Ubuntu Touch to version 1.5. Community developers are designing and building applications that will scale from phone to tablet and to the desktop and we can test some of these on the desktop. Some such as Web Browser are standard in Trusty Tahr (use the mouse to do swipe gestures).

It is a machine. It is more stupid than we are. It will not stop us from doing stupid things.

I think you've misunderstood this web page. It's not saying "If you buy a phone that has these specifications, you'll be able to install Ubuntu on it and dock it to a monitor". It's saying "If you are a mobile phone manufacturer and want to release an Ubuntu Superphone, it will need to have at least these specifications".

There are no production phones that come with Ubuntu, much less any with those specifications and the dockable capability.
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.

have you guys seen this: http://www.stuff.tv/g3/lg-g3/review

That means the G3’s brain will have four 2.2GHz Cortex-A15 cores and another four 1.7GHz Cortex-A7 cores for less demanding tasks.

The end result will hopefully be extra battery life, thanks to the division of labour between the specialised cores.

We also expect to see 3GB of RAM in the G3 at the very least, which should be the minimum amount present in flagship smartphones this year.
    8 cores and 3GB ram
