    Unhappy Did Yahoo Buy-Out Ubuntu? What is YUI Loader?

    Upon attempting to access Ubuntu Forums, I can understand maybe a link to FaceBook (which I block) showing up due to your icons hoping people will "Like You", but Can NOT understand having to go through Yahoo. Witness the following;

    Packet to "Yahoo! Broadcast Services, Inc" ( 206.190.56.191 ) blocked.
    [protocol: TCP - src: 1570 / dst: 80]

    Due to the following Script on your Forum pages;

    What is a YUI Loader from Yahooapis.com ?
    Anyone care to Explain what this JavaScript does ? ?
    And why you insist we put up with it ? ? ?

    PS: Please don't BAN me - as We the People Want to Know!
    Curious & Concerned,
    Rick

    Re: Did Yahoo Buy-Out Ubuntu? What is YUI Loader?

    So what they are saying at vBulletin (source code & platform for this forum) is that they utilize the conveinance of Yahooapis for one ore more of the following;

    * Tracking
    * AD placements according to templates
    * All AJAX systems now employ the Yahoo! User Interface Library (YUI) for a more consistent and predictable system
    * YUI files can now be switched from locally hosted to remotely hosted by Yahoo!

    All being outdated as the posting you referred to was from Nov. 2007.
    So the question remains .... Why use YAHOO known for Security Issues?

    In June of 2013, the Washington Post and The Guardian have revealed a US government mass Internet surveillance program code-named "PRISM". They report that the NSA and the FBI have been tapping directly into the servers of nine US service providers, including Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Apple, Yahoo, YouTube, AOL and Skype, and began this surveillance program at least seven years ago.

    We use it because we do.

    We'll not be changing anything anytime soon.

    If you don't want to use it then don't.
