    Alright, the script is running and seems to be working just like it should. It's going to take a while to finish, so I can't yet confirm that everything has worked correctly. But it looks like it is doing everything as advertised. Files are being copied over and I can access them just fine. Thanks so much for the help coffeecat, you're a lifesaver!

    I'm glad to hear that, and glad to hear you can access them. If by chance you do eventually get folders or files that give you a permission denied message, post the details and I'll give you the command that can sort the ownership out.

    I think it fails when the source file is an "empty regular file". It has to be a directory. Am I right?
