Hey, community! Anybody have any experience getting AMD APU computers to run reasonably on Ubuntu? Here's my issue. I just got a Lenovo H505s.
Here's the specs:
CPU AMD Dual Core E2-1800 1.7GHz Memory 4GB DDR3 1333 Chipset AMD A68 Graphics AMD Radeon HD 7340
It's not exactly a powerhouse, I know. But I expect it to at least scroll through a web page in Firefox without a noticeable lag and shooting both CPU cores up to 100% utilization. My gut feeling is that it's a gaphics driver issue. I'm thinking it's doing complete software rendering instead of using the GPU features. I have a 5-year-old laptop with a celeron CPU and a crappy old intel integrated graphics chipset that outperforms this lenovo. That doesn't seem right.
So far, I've installed Ubuntu 12.04, installed all the updates, set it to use fglrx via jockey. I even tried newer drivers from the "x crack pushers" ppa. This thing is still limping along.
Has anybody had similar trouble? What can I do to get Ubuntu to perform decently?
