    Re: ham radio

Linux has had ax25 packet support built in forever. It came out in the '90s, and I've been using it (Slackware) since. Ubuntu (I use Kali mostly) has excellent support for digital operation, rig control (I use FLDigi for both with my TS850S + FT847, with minimal home-brew interfaces) as well as satellite tracking software & utilities, logging and contest stuff... the list goes on.

I *only* use Linux - Ubuntu (Kali) now, but since Slackware 3.1 - for ham radio stuff, as well as running my ham webpage and surfing QRZ and DXwatch.com, and pretty much everything else I do.

Except for what absolutely wont run in WINE and is something I must run for whatever reason, this is the case.

I got hooked on Linux at the same time I got my ham license - I had to learn Linux to run stuff I wanted to and loved it.

Since Ubuntu has the best, in my opinion, support and applications for amateur radio related use, I use it now. If this continues, I'll continue to use it.

Keep up the good work, Ubuntu!!!

Do you have a website that could be used for people who would like to see examples of using Ubuntu with ham radio?
