Hi there .... I have an ageing but capable desktop computer with an ALiveNF6P-VSTA motherboard and 1GiB ram. It was very slow running Ubuntu 13.10 so I had a go at installing Lubuntu. It crashed part way through the install on every occasion. With Ubuntu, I had to use the 'nomodeset' parameter and install a proprietary driver to make it work. With Lubuntu, the parameter could not be entered. The command did nothing. Subsequently I installed Kubuntu which worked out of the box.
When the Lubuntu installer crashed, Apport gave the message that it was unable to report the problem.
I'm quite happy to do some work to help identify the problem is someone tells me exactly what to do, as currently I'm not familiar with Lubuntu.
